ProAct Safety CEO Among Six Select Few at 2014 National Safety Council Congress

The Woodlands, TX (PRWEB) May 13, 2014

ProAct Safety, a recognized pioneer in safety excellence strategies, announced its founder and CEO, Terry L. Mathis, was chosen to present one of only six sessions at the Congress that will carry the Journey to Safety Excellence® emblem in the session description. The presentation based on the article of the same title (Industry Week, May 2013), is Should the Safety Department Manage Safety? scheduled for September 15, 2014, from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

According to the NSC website, the Journey to Safety Excellence model is deeply rooted in research and provides a framework of safety best practices that is easy to follow. The model describes an ideal cycle of workplace safety improvement. In the session, Mathis will discuss the benefits of safety oversight being managed by supervisors in each department rather than by safety professionals. With this unique distribution of safety responsibilities, department supervisors manage day-to-day safety issues, while safety professionals act as subject matter experts, teachers and developers of the organizations safety strategy and safety culture.

In addition to the Journey to Safety Excellence session, ProAct Safetys president, Shawn M. Galloway, who was named an NSC Rising Star in 2013, will deliver a presentation titled Becoming a Rising StarThe Ideal Safety Career Path on September 15th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mathis and Galloway were also asked to co-present a pre-conference workshop titled Taking Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) to the Next Level, which will take place on Sunday, September 14th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This entire event is a great opportunity for safety professionals to measure their personal and organizational progress in safety and continue finding new ways to achieve safety excellence, Mathis said. Im thrilled the NSC is planning to recognize safety management as an important part of the Journey to Safety Excellence process.

Galloway added, We are honored to be participating in this years NSC Congress, and we are eager to share common steps organizations of all sizes and types have taken to reach their safety goals. ProAct Safety has delivered presentations at each annual NSC Congress for nearly a decade.
