Bona Film Group Wins Record-Breaking Thirteen Awards at the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards(April 21, 2014)
BEIJING, April 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bona Film Group Limited ("Bona" or the "Company") (Nasdaq:BONA), a leading film distributor and vertically integrated film company in China, today announced that its films received a record thirteen awards at the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards ("HKFA") in Hong Kong on April 13th.

Bona-invested and distributed martial arts drama, The Grandmaster, directed by Wong Kar-Wai, and featuring internationally renowned actor Tony Leung and actress Ziyi Zhang, claimed 12 of the 14 awards for which it was nominated, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress. In addition, Nick Cheung was named Best Actor for his performance in the mixed martial-arts film Unbeatable, where he played a former boxing champion, and for which he also received the Golden Goblet Award for Best Actor at the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival. The Grandmaster and Unbeatable also achieved strong domestic box receipts, generating around RMB300 million and RMB120 million, respectively.
The 33rd HKFA marks the sixth Best Film win for a Bona produced and/or invested film, as After This Our Exile, The Warlords, Bodyguards and Assassins, Gallants, and A Simple Life were named Best Film in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012, respectively, making Bona the undisputed leader in the industry for its pursuit of top artistic standards.

The awards are the Hong Kong equivalent of the American Oscars and the British BAFTAs.
