The Hobbit Earns Big Time at the Box Office on Christmas

(PRWEB) December 28, 2013

Based on a news article recently posted on Explore Talent, The Hobbit won over such movies as The Wolf of Wall Street, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and Foxs new release, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which were expected to bring in the big bucks over the holidays.

The Hobbits Bilbo Baggins with his diminutive dwarf and elf friends garnered the top spot of the box office huge earners on Christmas Day with more than $9.2 million. The sequel to the J.K. Rowling series is closely followed by The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo di Caprio, with its $9.1 million. Anchorman 2 got the third spot, even with a noted 2 percent drop from its opening day earnings, as it got some $8 million sales.

The wondrous visual imagery of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, it seemed, was not enough to pull it up to the top of the box office as it only earned over $7.8 million on the day of its release. The Fox movie was followed by American Hustle, Keanu Reeves 47 Ronin and the popular animation flick from Disney, Frozen.

Other titles that got in the top ten list of top box office earners on Christmas include Saving Mr. Banks, Grudge Match and Tyler Perrys A Madeas Christmas.
