Thirteen Year Old Founder of Project Yesu, Mallory Fundora Talks With Core of Education's Dr. Rod Berger

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) December 12, 2013

Mallory Fundora, a 13-year-old girl from Clarksville, TN, sat down during her homeroom class today to talk to Dr. Rod Berger about her work with kids in Uganda on the Core of Education. Mallory is the founder of Project Yesu, which she started in 2011 by writing a Christmas list to her parents with one wish on it -- to help kids in Africa who wouldn't have a Christmas. So far she has raised nearly $20,000 to provide food, medicine and education to children in Uganda and traveled there on two occasions. Mallory is planning another trip in the summer of 2014.

Dr. Berger spoke with Mallory about her work, the motivation behind her decision to get started with these humanitarian efforts, issues such as safety while traveling in Africa, and how people can help her cause. They also talked about how she was the first student ever to receive a Bammy Award for Student Initiative, given presented in collaboration with Choose2Matter, an organization that challenges students to share their talents in order to solve global problems. The award was presented at a black-tie gala in Washington D.C, on September 21, 2013.

"Mallory is such an inspiration," says Dr. Berger. "On one hand she is a typical teenager who likes One Direction and doesn't like math, and on the other hand she is doing this amazing work for these kids on the other side of the world."

Mallory has plans to move to Uganda when she turns 18 to open an orphange. Dr. Berger and Core of Education will be following her journey along the way with further installments.
